Learn to dive close to home!

With Island Scuba you can learn to dive within a convenient distance from Colombo, without the hassle of traveling to the south and at a pace that works for you.

The start of your path to exploring the underwater world is the PADI Open Water coursewhich  is your introduction to the world of scuba diving and by completing the course you will have an international certification to dive to 18 meters with a buddy anywhere in the world.

The course is split up into three components. Theory, confined water (pool sessions) and two days of diving with two dives each. Our dive center is based in at La Voile Blanche Restaurant in Mount Lavinia (off Hotel Road) so all our training is conducted in the area. The restaurant is also a great place to kick back and chill after a days diving with a beer or a limejuice and take in some spectacular sunsets.

We time our courses so that people can complete the course over 2 weekends (barring any weather delays).

The theory will take around 3 hours or so. We give you the book and lend you a copy if the video beforehand so you can read and watch the video which makes the theory section go much faster if you can do the knowledge reviews, etc on your own before so you are familiar with the concepts.
 

Time for some theory!

We schedule our theory classes for Thursday evenings (flexible) so that you can still work or go to school and get this done easily and keep the weekends free for diving.

We then have the pool session where the instructor will show you the skills required to be an Open Water Diver and have you practice them in the pool. This is scheduled for Saturday afternoons.

Diving is fun for kids as well!

This is followed by the two days of diving the next weekend with 4 training dives. Our boat leaves around 8.00am and the dives will be done around 11.00am though for training dives sometimes we do them during the afternoon as well.

Your final step will be the final exam and you will then have your PADI Open Water Certificate!

We are flexible with our timing so if you do have any free days during the week then we can switch things around to fit your schedule but the two weekend schedule is our basic one.

Our courses costs includes book, PADI fees, gear rental and everything. Our classes are capped at 4 per class so we can ensure quality and personal service.
